Delphi Labs: Pittsburgh
We're looking for a special kind of dreamer. The kind that makes things possible. We're looking for you.

This is a historical moment...

Where the convergence of technology and mobility will transform our world. Not in some vague future, but in a matter of years. And this is where you will shape the future of mobility.

When you work for Delphi, you work for a company that doesn’t aim for global reach but for global leadership. Our engineers are encouraged to think in new ways to develop full-system solutions that are safe, green, and connected. What motivates us? The thrill and real engineering challenge of making autonomous vehicles safe and reliable. Think about it…the future of self-driving vehicles could have our algorithm in the car, and we don’t take that responsibility lightly; it needs to be right!

Delphi Labs: Pittsburgh is an executional powerhouse fueled by Ottomatika, a Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) spinoff acquired by Delphi in 2015. Our Pittsburgh team builds some of the most sophisticated automated driving prototypes in the industry, in addition to developing software and system solutions that enable autonomous vehicles to predict objects around them and know their exact location using landmarks.

The three main focuses of this Lab are:

  • Algorithm development to help autonomous vehicles detect pedestrians, etc.
  • Software architecture to allow different software modules to communicate.
  • Prototype builds that demonstrate advanced autonomous drive platform capabilities.

Engineers in our Pittsburgh Lab use an Agile process as well as sprint teams built to maximize diverse backgrounds and skill-sets, which efficiently solve complex engineering challenges and deliver real-world solutions.

We have #delphipride. In 2015, our automated vehicle, nicknamed “the Roadrunner” completed a historic 3,400 mile trip from San Francisco to New York - 99% of the time in autonomous mode, navigating through construction, traffic, and diverse weather conditions during the nine-day trip! We roll-up our sleeves and get things done, but we also maintain good work-life balance.

But did you know these little known facts:

  • We’ve been doing real-world testing since the historic DARPA Challenges in 2004, the beginning of automated driving.
  • Leveraging the sensor fusion of camera, RADAR and LiDAR data, these behavioral planning algorithms are key to the success of a Level 4/5 autonomy that moves seamlessly in busy traffic and navigate complex scenarios.
  • This year, Delphi brought home the “Pittsburgh Technology Soccer League Champion” trophy!

Want to be part of our next big dream? Then join us!
We’re currently doubling our engineering staff.
